House Ruscoe

When my wife and I decided to build a house in Sedgefield, we anticipated a simple timber frame holiday home. Having had numerous experiences with building contractors both building and doing alterations in Gauteng, I expected that there would be continuous conflict regarding contractual obligations, and the fact that we would be building from a distance would exacerbate the problems exponentially.

As a result we looked carefully at a few contractors in Sedgefield, and checked on completed projects, finish and quality of work, and spoke to the home owners about follow-up service.

We settled on Rex Construction with Jaco Botha (Realty King) and Christo Delport (Rex Construction) being the contact points.

We gave the go-ahead in July  2013, and to my delight and astonishment, we had a beautiful home ready to move into four months later. We went from architect to engineer, to municipal requirements, all with full consultation, discussion and agreement at every stage. This was accomplished with minimal hassle, professional service, a contract adhered to in detail, photographs proving achievement of milestones prior to payment requests, and only two site visits during construction.

The house is exemplary, to the extent that we no longer see it as a holiday home but as a retirement option. The follow-up service has been superb, and the very minor snag list attended to with speed and courtesy.

I would recommend Jaco and Christo unreservedly to anyone wanting to build either a timber frame or brick house (I’ve seen examples of their brick houses too!) in the Sedgefield/Knysna area. In fact, we already have some additions to the home in mind, and I will certainly use them again, for these improvements.
